Feeding local People in Crisis

Following a Men’s Breakfast where Rev Jack Walker, Former Minister of Leigh Park Baptist Church http://www.leighparkbaptist.org.uk spoke about the Food Bank that was operating in his church, Churches Together (CTHI) felt that they would like to respond to a growing need on Hayling Island.

When people find themselves in a sudden crisis situation without food, energy supplies or even a roof over their head we want to be able to make an immediate response. This is where the Food Bank comes in.

Food is donated by local people.

Volunteers pack the food into boxes that contain enough food for 3 - 5 days.

To receive a food box you need to have been referred to us by professional care workers (i.e. school, health visitors, social workers, GPs etc)

The Bridge Church agreed to be responsible for storing the food, and delivering the boxes when the need arises. Fresh food i.e. milk & bread is usually bought, to add to the non-perishable food on delivery. A top-up to  gas & electric keys can also be supplied, again on referral.
